Welcome to the Nebraska CASA Association
Our Mission
The Nebraska CASA Association works with the National CASA Association to support the development, growth, and continuation of local CASA programs which recruit and train CASA volunteers. We believe that abused and neglected children in the court system need a volunteer advocate.

"You can't control where abused children come from, but you can have something to do with where they end up." |

Why CASA?
- CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates - trained volunteers from the community who are appointed by a judge to advocate on a one-to-one basis for a child who has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
- Children represented by a CASA advocate generally had more services ordered and provided.
- Children with CASA support tended to have slightly fewer foster home placements.
- Children with CASA support appear to be less likely to reenter the foster-care system once their cases are dismissed.
- Children who had been assigned to CASA volunteers were approximately 50 percent less likely to reenter the dependency system.
CASA in Nebraska
- As of December 2005, 460 CASA volunteers were advocating for 871 of Nebraska's abused and neglected children.
- In 2004, a total of 10,361 Nebraska children were in out-of-home care at some point.
- 31% of those children in out-of-home care had 4-9 placements, with the ideal situation for a child to experience 1 placement.
- 18 local CASA programs are currently serving 28 counties in Nebraska.
You have the power to protect a child.
