For those of us who are able to give more, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved in the community and help spread the holiday cheer this season.

Give Where You Live brings people together as one community, raising money and awareness for our local nonprofits. By Investing in the Kearney/Buffalo County CASA program, our project will be able to expand our services in order for us to serve 100% of abused and neglected children. The impact it will have in our community is that we will be able to increase the involvement of more CASA Volunteers to provide positive voices for our youth who depend on us to do something about their situation. Please consider making your donation to Kearney/Buffalo County CASA. You can donate online or come into Tru Café December 6th from 9a.m. to 4p.m.

If you want to join in and celebrate National Write a Friend Month during this wonderful winter season, here are a couple writing ideas to get you started.

Over 400 children in foster care need YOUR help to make the holidays a little brighter

Every year CASA for Douglas County hosts a Holiday Party for the children our volunteer advocates serve. Children will enjoy an evening at the Omaha Children's Museum complete with dinner and holiday treats, games, a photo booth, time with Super Heroes, a visit with Santa, and much more. The Holiday Party is often the only opportunity for kids to spend time with their siblings and receive a gift.

Christmas for CASA - Phelps/Harlan County CASA

Wanting to make a child’s Christmas this year and don’t know where to start? Think of donating to the foster children in Phelps and Harlan Counties that CASA is serving. You can drop off a gift at the Phelps County Courthouse on the second floor and place inside the “gift box” for us to distribute to all the foster children in Phelps and Harlan Counties or drop by the CASA office. No need to wrap these gifts as we will need to know who to give them to, so they are age appropriate. We currently serve 35 children between the ages of 1 1/2 years up to 18 years of age. Please if you are wanting to donate drop your gift off no later than December 10th so we can get them distributed before Christmas. Give a child HOPE this Christmas Season.

How can you help?
1. Choose a tag from the Giving Tree.

3. Return your unwrapped gift or gifts along with the tag to the Main Bank in York no later than December 10th.
