Jodi Schamberger, CASA for Lancaster County Volunteer Advocate
I have been with CASA since May of this year. I love working with children of all ages: friends, relatives and a past preschool teacher. I believe in encouraging babies, children, teens through adults. Almost everyone needs some kind of help. I enjoy researching and helping to provide resources when needed as part of being an advocate. Sometimes parents and foster parents do not have any idea where to start. Depending on the case it could be in need of intense drug treatment in-patient at a residential facility or out-patient services, family counseling, medical treatment for the child(ren), food programs, individual education plan at school, or gifted child programs at school and before or after school daycare programs.
There are so many ways volunteering has made me feel like I can make a difference. Talking with the child(ren) on my case and seeing how well it is going makes all of the difference in the world. CASA has had tickets donated to their program so I was able to provide baseball tickets and have offered Husker's football tickets if our kids caregivers are able to take them.
